Banning Lewis Ranch is designed with families in mind. As such, the community has supported the construction and opening of school sites within its villages. The first of these is the Banning Lewis Ranch Academy K-8, a state-of-the-art charter school within Falcon School District 49. Banning Lewis Ranch Academy opened its doors for the 2006-2007 school year. The campus is located next to the Northtree Ranch House, so that students and their parents can easily access and use the community center facilities. Falcon District 49 has about 15 campuses in the Falcon/Colorado Springs area, serving a student population of 11,000.
Banning Lewis Ranch residents have easy access to all of the essential shops and services. Woodmen Road, a major artery linked to Interstate 25, is nearby, as is the Powers Corridor. Interstate 25 connects the Colorado Springs area with southern Denver, which is less than an hour’s drive away. Powers Boulevard runs north and south between State Route 83 and Fontaine Boulevard; the northeastern section of Powers is blossoming with shopping, dining and entertainment venues.
Recreational facilities in the area include several golf courses, an expansive sports complex, plus Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods and many hills, canyons, rock formations and waterways located throughout El Paso County. Public golf courses in the vicinity include Springs Ranch, Antler Creek and Pine Creek. There is also VillaSport, a comprehensive fitness facility, sports complex and spa located at the intersection of Woodmen and Powers.
These outside recreation sites are completed by the sites within Banning Lewis Ranch. Highlights just within Northtree include four neighborhood parks, a larger community park and a network of open spaces and trails. The grassy Pioneer Park is located at the village entrance, while Northtree Park is situated at the heart of the village. Children’s play areas are found in Climbers Park and Sandy Park. There is also the Cottonwood Preserve, a quiet, less-structured natural space that’s perfect for a relaxing afternoon walk.
While the community emphasizes natural resources and preservation of the landscape, it doesn’t overlook modern technology needs. Every home in Banning Lewis Ranch will have access to a fiber optic Internet connection by way of fiber-to-the-home technology. Community management is also planning for a residents-only website, where neighbors can communicate, make friends and share ideas.
